Every big social network and internet platform has been hyping new AI features, so it’s probably no surprise that LinkedIn is moving in that direction, too.
You’ll now be able to search for jobs in a more conversational way, rather than having to click through a bunch of different filters. For example, I could say “find me a tech journalism job in New York that pays at least a million dollars a year.” You can also ask LinkedIn’s AI to review your résumé and even to write you a cover letter or letter of introduction.
LinkedIn is also adding AI career coaches that have been trained on the work of notable instructors. And the last big change involves search — this is more like a vague pre-announcement, with LinkedIn saying it will share more about the new search experience in the coming weeks. But again, the idea is to make search more conversational.
This isn’t LinkedIn’s first move into AI — in fact, its head of product told TechCrunch that the company has been building with AI since 2007. But it presumably has access to more powerful tools now, especially since its parent company Microsoft is a major investor in OpenAI.
